Pacific Power Station Upgrade, Tonga

GRNZ recently completed a major generator upgrade at the Popua Power Station in Nukuʻalofa, Tonga, a critical power facility that supplies electricity to the entire island of Tongatapu.
The project involved the careful removal, relocation and installation of large scale power generation equipment, including two new 16 tonne Cummins QSK60 generators, each rated at 1750kVA. This work required detailed planning, precise coordination and a strong understanding of the operational requirements of a live power station environment.

As part of the upgrade, GRNZ also completed a range of supporting mechanical and installation works, including day tanks, mufflers, associated pipework, fuel feed piping and valving, radiator assembly, ducting and vibration isolation.
This project highlights GRNZ’s capability to deliver complex generator installation and power station upgrade work across the Pacific, supporting reliable power infrastructure in demanding environments.
